According to the International Plumbing Code (2006 IPC) the following are the minimal dimensions for a shower:
All shower compartments shall have a minimum of 900 square inches of interior cross-sectional area.
Shower compartments shall not be less than 30 inches in mini-mum dimension measured from the finished interior dimen-sion of the compartment, exclu-sive of fixture valves, shower- heads, soap dishes, and safety grab bars or rails.
Except as required in Section 404, the minimum required area and dimension shall be measured from the finished interior dimension at a height equal to the top of the thre-shold and at a point tangent to its centerline, and shall be continued to a height not less than 70 inches (1778 mm) above the shower drain outlet.
To simplify the information above here are the dimensions in plain English.
36" by 36" is about standard for a shower stall, but 30" by 30" is the minimum.
Box By Box Kitchen and Bath Design installs full bathrooms. We begin our journey where you want us to start. We can redesign your bathroom entirely - moving walls to give you more space, or we can tear out the existing tiles, pull out the existing bathtub, remove old vanities and start afresh. We also dig up the old floors and put new ones.
Now-a-days homeowners
are not afraid to get rid of the bathtubs altogether and to install
a stand-up showers. With the likelihood of slipping and falling in
the bathtub going for stand-up showers is not such a bad idea. We
make your stan-dup showere beautiful.
We can start with a
one-piece system or we can go the traditional way using tiles. But
with a stand-up shower there are no grout lines where moulds can
grow. Denying the growth of acteria in your bathroom as much as
possible is a very good idea. It makes the bathroom much
healthier.

A vanity cabinet is the name given to cabinets in bathrooms. It is usually shorter than kitchen cabinets though this does not have to be the case. A vanity may consist of open shelves, drawers, doors, or a combination of all three. Vanity cabinets are mostly in homes but can also be found in hotels and motels.
Vanities used to have a sink inserted into the counter top but now one is very likely to see sinks that are placed on the top of the counter top. As well vanities are now installed from walls instead of from the floor.
A mirror or mirrors is very commonly found in bathrooms, and in some homes a medicine cabinet inserted into the wall can be found in most bathrooms as part of the vanity cabinetry.
Lower priced vanities are made from melamine or inexpensive woods and laminates. But there are also very expensive high-end vanities that consist of top quality wood and stone counter tops. They come with very expensive handles or knobs that suit the taste and fashion of the homeowner.
Basic DIY installation types of vanities can be found at most home improvement stores, and there are usually many choices, models and sizes that will fit most homes and other places where they are needed.
High class vanities are usually custom ordered and made to specifications. Custom ordered vanities are usually intended to suit the homeowner's specific taste, or are made because those found in home imporvement stores are the wrong sizes for where they are needed.
