Wallpapers are great and they make a kitchen look great. However, when they get old, you cannot wait to remove them and maybe paint the wall or put up another wall paper that is better looking. Removing a wall paper is a nightmare for many people and it can be so messy and as a result, most of the time you may find yourself seeking for help from professionals.
But with a little bit of insight on
some of the tips you can use, you will find that you do not need
help with this because you can do it yourself perfectly and save so
much money and time in the end. What you need is just a few tips on
how you can do it, and then you will do it in no time at
all.
What you need is enough room in order
to work on the wall paper with no hassle at all. You can consider
removing everything in the room where the wall paper is, or you can
stuff it all up in the middle of the room, then you will have the
wall all to yourself.
Cover the items in the room with something in order to prevent the mess form getting into them. You do not want to be left with so much cleaning work after this because you probably will be a lot tired by the so the less work you’ll be left with the better for you.
The good thing is that there are old
wall papers that are strippable and these are very easy to remove.
Pray that yours will be like this, however you could have a lot of
hard time removing wall paper if it is stuck on the wall. Use a
putty knife in order to pry a seam up at least on the corner, then
you can slowly peel off the wall paper out of the
wall.
You will be lucky if your wall paper can peel off the wall with ease. If not, you will have to use water or even chemicals in order to get it off your wall, which is not easy but very possible when you are doing it yourself.
If you will need to use water, use
warm water and damp one section of the wall paper and let it soak
before you start peeling it off. There are commercially available
wall paper removers that you can use in order to remove the wall
paper perfectly, therefore if you must, you can use these in order
to make the work much easier for yourself.
This will save so much of your time and the hassle as well. If the glue is still strong, you may need to wet the surface several times in order to make it loose so that you can easily remove the wall paper.
Once the wall paper has been removed,
you will have to let it dry before you work on it for repainting or
for another wall paper, depending on what you want to use. You will
have to clean it up first, and then sand it if you will paint the
wall, then you will be able to give your home the great look and
feel that you have wanted so much.
A solution of TSP and water will help so much when you are cleaning the wall and will help remove the glue and the wall paper that was left on the wall in order to make the surface perfect for use again. If you are struggling with an old wall paper, it is time to remove it and make your home better.
